The Origin Address Has Never Sold A Single HEX…

The biggest HEX critics point to the ORIGIN ADDRESS (OA) as the “problem.” Why?

The OA holds a large quantity of HEX and from 2019 - 2024 it sat dormant, liquid - not mined. The OA maintained almost a 90% unstaked vs staked ratio in the ecosystem which allowed for a 36.9% average yield in HEX payouts. Anyone staked from 2019 through 2024 received almost five years of high yield payouts.

However, in March 2025 the OA staked 100% of the OA HEX, which reduced the yield to approximately 4%. The OA made several 10 year and 15 year miners. The effects of this activity are discussed in the section called WTF Happened in 2025. 

Critics like to say this OA is a threat to the future price of HEX. Why? Because they imagine that one day whoever holds the keys to that OA will start selling off its holdings and dump the entire ecosystem (rugpull).

Furthermore, these same critics believe that Richard Heart holds the keys to the OA and they have concluded that he is a malevolent actor, despite the evidence showing otherwise.

But what if the OA is a benefit instead of a threat?

Richard Heart has noted that anyone can put together a “Parade of Imaginary Horribles” for any market at any time. The “what ifs” are virtually endless. What if this happens, and what if that happens…we’ll all be doomed!

But what if - the reality - is that the OA acts as the benevolent guiding hand? What if the OA is a force for good, not evil? What if the OA nurtures instead of destroys? After all, isn’t this the natural tendency of any entrepreneur who creates something for the benefit of the world - to nurture, not destroy?

After over five years since launch, we now have a history of OA behavior to make a reasonable conclusion and response to the critics: the parade of imaginary horribles is a fiction of the paranoid mind, and the OA is indeed a benevolent guiding hand in the HEX ecosystem - a nurturing whale.

So what are the benevolent attributes of the OA, thus far?

- The holder of the OA keys is anonymous and can never be known until the entity that holds those keys decides to reveal himself through public and onchain behaviors.

- The OA has never sold a single HEX.

- The OA receives 50% of the penalties, and because of the reasons above, these HEX are swallowed up and never sold.

All great products begin small, with only a few believers, which then grows outward and enormous, just like a tree.

And like a tree, this takes time. The HEX cryptocurrency is maturing, and the brief history has allowed its roots to take hold, and spread, while the branches grow far and wide - for every year that goes by, the more decentralized HEX becomes.
